Luke Damon Goss was born two months early, in the evening of September 29, 1968. Eleven minutes later his twin brother Matt was born at Lewisham Hospital in the United Kingdom.

Luke’s parents, Carol and Alan, divorced when he and Matt were five.

When he was seven, his mother introduced Luke to another man who was to become her husband, Tony Phillips. Tony had two children, Carolyn and Adam, from a previous marriage. (Carolyn was tragically killed at age eighteen when hit by a drunk driver.)

Luke’s mom and step-dad gave him a drum set when he was twelve, and a musician was born!

In high school Luke started his own band and introduced his brother Matt into the music world. Luke, Matt, and a school friend named Craig made up the pop band Bros in 1986. Bros had 13 hit singles and 3 hit albums.

Before his career took off, Luke met a beautiful young singer born in 1960 named Shirley Fredrick. Shirley’s sister Dee was already in the business and had changed her surname to Lewis. Shirley did the same, becoming Shirley Lewis. Shirley had a young daughter, Carli, from a previous relationship. Luke and Shirley married in 1994 and have been together ever since.

After five successful years with two world tours, management informed the boys that the money was gone. The contract that their parents had signed on the boys’ behalf had entitled the record company to take a cut from the top, leaving Luke and Matt with nothing. It was an unfair contract, and Luke decided to leave Bros, breaking up the band.

Matt went to Los Angeles, and Luke started fresh, but in debt. He sold everything he owned and started the band Luke Goss and the Band of Thieves. In 1993 Luke wrote the book I Owe You Nothing. It stayed several weeks on the top 10 best sellers list and went into 3 reprints. It is now out of print.

Luke was offered a theater role in Plan 9 From Outer Space and then went on to do Grease and What A Feeling in the UK.

In 2000, Luke was offered his first movie role and a Hollywood star was born.

Today Luke resides in LA but still keeps a home in London where his parents still live.

Luke’s tattoo is shaped in the letter “S” for his wife Shirley.
