Personal Bio (continues)

In 1996, after many offers, Luke accepted the lead role as Jeff the airline pilot in the musical play ‘Plan 9 From Outer Space’, based on an Ed Wood screenplay, and in Feb 1997 he starred in the touring musical ‘What A Feeling’, which played to full houses all over the UK. After enjoying his performance at London’s Palladium Theater, the producers of the smash hit musical ‘Grease’ offered Luke the starring role as Danny Zuko in the West End production and after a huge success in London, he went on to front the touring show, which was voted the most successful British tour two years in a row.

Luke has also presented his own shows on MTV, VH1, interviewed Michael Caine for an American TV network, recorded radio plays for the BBC,as well as being the face of Hyundai Cars for their TV advertising campaign.

In 2000, Luke was offered his first movie role (Two Days, Nine Lives) taking his career in a new direction. In the same year he played a role in the TV show The Stretch, and 2001 saw him getting the role of Christian in Love Life.

2002 was a busy year, with Luke getting roles in the movies Nine Tenths (Jon Laker), Zig Zag (Cadillac Tom, a loan shark-strip club proprietor), and, most notably, Blade II, playing Jared Nomak, a new breed of Vampire (Reaper) which feeds on humans and other Vampires alike. This movie was to be the first venture he undertook under the directorship of Guillermo Del Toro and this pairing has since proven to be an extremely productive one.
Following his success in Blade II, 2004 brought him more public recognition as he starred in three more movies. He gave an outstanding performance in the hard-hitting movie Charlie, playing the lead role of Charlie Richardson, the famous South London gang leader. He also played the part of ‘The Creature’ in Hallmark’s production of ‘Frankenstein’ a four-part mini series, gaining a great many glowing reviews.

2005 saw Luke playing roles in three more movies, Cold and Dark (John Dark), in which he plays a Police Detective (John Dark) who has to prevent his partner from becoming a murderous monster, Private Moments (Lucien), and The Man in which he plays gun runner Joey/Kane opposite Samuel L Jackson and Eugene Levy.
The following year he played Anton in 13 Graves, a pilot for a TV series which was, unfortunately not taken up by the TV company, and John Dresham, a CIA dirty deeds man in Mercenary For Justice, plus a police officer called Randy in the horror movie Something In The Clearing.
2006 also saw him playing the Lead Male role of King Xerxes in One Night With The King opposite Tiffany Dupont, for which he won a Camie Award. This movie really showed his ability to shine on screen, holding his own whilst playing opposite screen giants such as Omar Shariff and Peter O’Toole.

In January 2007 Luke and Shirley moved permanently to LA but still keep a home in London where his parents still live, but it was also a very productive year for Luke careerwise, with roles in four more films, Unearthed, Shanghai Baby, The Dead Undead and Bone Dry, in which he played Eddie, a lawyer with a dark past who is hunted across the desert in a horrific tale of retribution. This movie has brought Luke great acclaim for his gritty and emotive performance.

Both One Night with the King and Bone Dry were viewed at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival.

2008 saw Luke renewing his involvment with Guillermo Del Toro in the hit blockbuster movie Hellboy II, in which he plays Prince Nuada, the son of King Balor, the Elven King of the Unseen Realm which has been pushed to the brink of extinction. Luke trained hard for several months for this movie and gave an outstanding performance which brought him many, many new fans.

He has also recently appeared in a commercial for the new Cadillac Escalade Hybrid.

2009/10 will surely see more success for Luke as we wait (not so) patiently for the release of the TV movie Annihilation Earth, and three more movies which promise to rock the box office, namely Tekken which is based on the hit arcade/Playstation game, in which he plays British fighter Steve Fox, El Dorado, an adventure film full of intrigue and dirty tricks as two parties hunt for hidden gold, and Witchville, which is still in production.

As if this wasn’t enough, Luke has also launched his own production company, G Productions, which already has a fabulous new movie on it’s books called ‘Eyes Of The King’, which looks set to become another great movie experience.
