How the ‘HB II’ bad guy got that look 7/2008

Hellboy and his girlfriend, Liz, are battling Prince Nuada, an otherworldly ruler bent on taking over the world with the help of ruthless warriors. Behind that pasty face is actor Luke Goss, 39, who took time to chat about the experience.

On the layers of makeup: “It would take about 45 minutes to take it off and get cleaned up. I had a Corona and a couple of lovely ladies helping me, so I didn’t really mind,” he says.

On where you might know him from: Prior to acting, Goss and his twin brother, Matt, were part of British boy band Bros. He still sings, “but only in the shower. Everything sounds better in the shower.”

On his stunning swordsmanship skills in Hellboy: “I’d never done swords, and the whole thing is about rotation. That was my favorite part of the movie. It’s an extension of your arm,” he says. “The spear is horribly hard.”

On his chiseled physique: “When you go to take your shirt off and you know you will be seen by I don’t know how many millions of people, it’s a purely dramatic decision to be in that good shape. I can’t be a chubby elf. That’s not cute, is it?”
